School Principles

The School proverb is "Way of the Warrior" this personifies the culture and the spiritual dedication of the school and its members. Embodied within this philosophy there are five principles which we and our students strive to attain and maintain. These principles must be considered at all times when learning new techniques and practicing/perfecting techniques already known.

The principles are:

  • Tireless pursuit of excellence - Practice until you have perfected it and know it works, or it may not work when you really need it
  • Mobility and Stability - You must be able to move quickly and deftly when you need to, and be immovable when it is required
  • Cultivation of the mind - Your mind is the greatest of all your weapons, without strength of mind you will fail
  • Focus of power - Use your inner strength to direct your power to the point of delivery
  • Control of power - Use only what power you need to use, when and where you need to use it

Training Principles

The techniques that we teach can be extremely dangerous when performed by untrained or unskilled persons, it is therefore imperative that these techniques are only practiced in the dojo with instruction from a sensei or qualified instructor, and only used as self-defence when no other alternative is available to you.
